Abstract

A wind turbine blade () is formed of a fiber-reinforced composite material comprising a polymer matrix. The blade () further comprises a first region (), a second region () and a transition region () between the first and the second region (). The first region () is reinforced predominantly with a first reinforcement fiber material (). The second region () is reinforced predominantly with a second reinforcement fiber material (). The first and the second reinforcement fiber material differ from each other and has differing E-modulus. The transition region () additionally comprises a third type of reinforcement fiber material () differing from both the first and the second reinforcement fiber material () and having an E-modulus between that of the first reinforcement fiber material () and that of the second reinforcement fiber material ().
