The first sized scalpel blade shaped differently than the second. Each of the plurality of safety scalpels includes an identical safety scalpel support structure and a sheath configured to be coupled to the support structure to move between a safe position and an exposed position. The sheath has a transverse slot suitable for cutting suture and intersects the cutting edge of the first and second sized scalpel blade, respectively, when assembled therewith and in the safe position.
