Abstract

In accordance with embodiments disclosed herein, there are provided methods, systems, mechanisms, techniques, and apparatuses for managing mixed deployments of vectored and non-vectored VDSL. For example, in one embodiment, there are included means for establishing an operational interface to a communications system, in which the communications system includes a plurality of copper telephone lines organized into at feast a vectored group having a first subset of the plurality of copper telephone lines and a second group having a remaining one or more of the copper telephone Hoes which are not part of the vectored group; means for estimating one or more achievable performance targets such as achievable bit rates for each of the vectored group and the second group; means for selecting an operating point for each of the vectored group and the second group based on the estimated achievable performance targets; means for assigning configurable values to approximate the operating point selected for each of the vectored group and the second group; and means for configuring the communications system via the operational interface to adopt the assigned configurable values. Other related embodiments are further disclosed.
