A coated component, in particular to a rolling bearing part, made from a metallic substrate (), and a PVD coating (), which is applied to the substrate (), formed of chromium and having a thickness of less than 2 μm, wherein the PVD coating () forms the surface of the component, and a compound of chromium and at least one further element is formed on the component surface.
