Abstract

A turbocharger () comprising a housing () including a compressor shroud () and a turbine shroud (). The turbocharger () also includes a compressor wheel () and a turbine wheel (). The compressor wheel () includes a compressor hub () and a plurality of circumferentially spaced compressor blades () extending radially from the compressor hub (). The turbine wheel () includes a turbine hub () and a plurality of circumferentially spaced blades () extending radially from the turbine hub () with a hub surface () extending between adjacent blades (). The turbine wheel () also includes at least one surface discontinuity () on the turbine hub surface ().
