Abstract
In order to distinguish between a state where an upper casing of an electronic device is closed and a state where the upper casing is folded towards its back side, the electronic device having an upper casing () and a lower casing () that are connected to each other via a hinge () is arranged such that: a magnetic axis () passing through a south pole and a north pole of a magnet () provided in the upper casing () is inclined with respect to a direction vertical to a surface of the upper casing () that faces the lower casing (); and magnetic sensors (A and B) provided in the lower casing () distinguish between magnetic fields generated by the magnet () in a closed state and magnetic fields generated by the magnet () in a tablet state.
