Abstract

An antenna () with an embedded wideband matching substrate () is provided. The substrate () comprises impedance matching circuitry () providing a low frequency (LF) matching circuit () and a high frequency (HF) matching circuit () for tri-band operation. A stripline () having a stripline ground () is disposed on the substrate. The stripline () provides a matching element and the stripline ground () provides a common ground () for both the HF and LF matching circuits. The substrate () is shaped with a tabular portion () which facilitates encasing the substrate () within a casing (). The tabular portion () further provides an alignment feature for wrapping of a flexible radiating element about the casing and flexible antenna rod () to complete the antenna structure ().
