Abstract

An emergency lighting unit. The emergency lighting unit includes a light source, an antenna, a near-field communication ('NFC') module, and a controller. The antenna is operable to receive a wireless communication signal. The NFC module is connected to the antenna, and the NFC module is operable to write, to a memory, information associated with the wireless communication signal. The controller is connected to the NFC module. The controller is operable to read the information associated with the wireless communication signal from the memory, set one or more system parameters of the emergency lighting unit based on the information associated with the wireless communication signal, and control the illumination of the light source based on at least one system parameter set based on the information associated with the wireless communication signal.
