Abstract
A surface-coated cutting tool according to the present invention includes a coating. The coating includes an α-AlOlayer. Each of the α-AlOlayers on a side of a rake face and a side of a flank face shows (001) orientation. In the α-AlOlayer on the rake face side, a length Lof a Σ3 crystal grain boundary exceeds 80% of a length Lof a Σ3-29 crystal grain boundary and is not lower than 10% and not higher than 50% of a total length Lof all grain boundaries. In the α-AlOlayer on the flank face side, a length Lof a Σ3 crystal grain boundary exceeds 80% of a length Lof a Σ3-29 crystal grain boundary and is not lower than 10% and not higher than 50% of a total length Lof all grain boundaries. A ratio L/Lis higher than a ratio L/L.
