Abstract
The invention provides a method of protecting a vehicle occupant () during a side impact which includes a side airbag () comprising an inflatable thorax section () and an inflatable arm lift section (). Inflation of the arm lift section () results in lifting of the arm () of the occupant (). Furthermore an airbag () comprising an inflatable thorax section () and an inflatable arm lift section () is described.
