Abstract
A light unit () is disclosed including a plurality of lighting devices (), in particular a plurality of LEDs, for emitting light. The light unit comprises connection terminals () for connecting the light unit to an external power supply () and for receiving an input voltage (V) and/or an input current (I) from the external power supply. A first current path () and a second current path () are connected to the connection terminals each comprising at least one lighting device, wherein the first current path and the second current path are connected in parallel to each other. The second current path has a controllable resistor () for controlling an electrical current Iin the second current path and a current limiter () for limiting the current in the second current path. The light unit comprises a control unit () adapted to control the controllable resistor on the basis of the electrical current in the second current path and on the basis of an electrical current (I) in the first current path or a total current (I) in both current paths.
