There is provided a protection circuit that is mounted between an AC adapter and a load circuit, operates with power supplied from the AC adapter, has a soft start function, and can perform overvoltage protection and the like. An audio deviceis configured to include a protection circuitat the side of the AC adapter, as well as a load circuitthat is an audio circuit body and a speaker. The protection circuitincludes an input terminalconnected to the AC adapter, an output terminalconnected to the load circuit, a power supply lineextending toward the output terminalfrom the input terminal, a switch unitand a DC/DC converter, the switch unitand the DC/DC converterbeing provided along the power supply line, and a protection circuit unitthat detects a voltage state or a current state on the power supply lineand protects the DC/DC converterand the load circuit
