Abstract
Disclosed is a rechargeable lithium battery including a positive electrode; a negative electrode including a negative active material, the negative active material including a silicon-based material; and an electrolyte solution including a lithium salt, a non-aqueous organic solvent, and an additive. The additive includes an ethylene carbonate-based compound represented by Chemical Formula 1 and a pyridine-based compound represented by Chemical Formula 2: R, Rand Rto Rare each independently hydrogen, a halogen, a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C20 alkyl group, or a C1 to C20 haloalkyl group; at least one of Rand Ris a halogen; and at least one of Rto Ris a halogen.
