Abstract

A container assembly () for retaining a liquid () during aging of the liquid () comprises a container () and an oxygenator (). The container () includes a container body () that defines a chamber (A) that receives and retains the liquid (). The oxygenator () is positioned substantially within the chamber (A). The oxygenator () includes a fluid source (), one or more diffusers (), and a valve (). The one or more diffusers () are in fluid communication with the fluid source (). The valve () selectively controls the introduction of a fluid from the fluid source () into the liquid () through the one or more diffusers (). The container assembly () further comprises an insert retainer assembly () and one or more flavor inserts () that are received and retained by the insert retainer assembly (). The container () further includes a container aperture () that extends through the container body (). The container aperture () can have a size that is less than approximately twenty-five percent of the total surface area of a top of the container body (). Additionally, the container aperture () can extend outward radially from the center of the top of the container body ().
