Abstract

A disposable setting tool () has a mandrel () and a barrel piston (). The mandrel () has a power charge chamber (), an intermediate section () having an exterior () of uniform circumference, and a lower section () having a lower exterior () of uniform circumference. The lower exterior () is in fluid communication with the power charge chamber (). The barrel piston () has a tubular body () with an enclosed lower end (), and a central portion () with a uniform interior circumference () for slidably receiving the intermediate exterior () and the lower exterior () of the mandrel (). An annular-shaped space () is defined to extend between the central portion () of the barrel piston () and the lower exterior () of the mandrel (). The enclosed lower end () of the barrel piston () has a bore () for slidably receiving the lower exterior () of said mandrel (). The mandrel () and the piston barrel () are adapted for securing to respective ones of a setting sleeve () and a packer mandrel ().
