Abstract

Systems and methods for separating carbon dioxide (CO) from a gas stream are provided. The system includes a reaction chamber, a pressurization unit, and a desorption unit. The reaction chamberis configured to receive a liquid sorbent streamand the gas stream, to react at least a portion of COin the gas streamwith the liquid sorbent and form an adduct stream. The pressurization unitis configured to contact the adduct streamwith a pressurized COstreamand form a pressurized adduct streamthat includes a liquid COadduct. The desorption unitis in fluid communication with the pressurization unit, and is configured to decompose at least a portion of the liquid COadduct to form a COstreamand a regenerated liquid sorbent stream
