Abstract

Provided is a coinage identification device (), comprising: a coinage sorting device (A), which is configured to further comprise a first coinage guidance unit (), and a second coinage guidance unit () which moves between a narrowing location which is close to the first coinage guidance unit () and a widening location which is separated from the first coinage guidance unit (), and to cause a plurality of coins to fall in batches of a defined number from between the first coinage guidance unit () and the second coinage guidance unit (); and a coinage intake () which is disposed below the first coinage guidance unit () and the second coinage guidance unit (), and which accepts the coins which fall from between the first coinage guidance unit () and the second coinage guidance unit (). When a coin is jammed between the first coinage guidance unit () and the second coinage guidance unit (), the coinage sorting device (A) moves the second coinage guidance unit () from the narrowing location to the widening location, thereby widening the space between the first coinage guidance unit () and the second coinage guidance unit () and causing the jammed coin to fall. The coinage identification device further comprises a shutter unit () which covers the coinage intake () when the second coinage guidance unit () is positioned in the widening location.
