Abstract

A rechargeable lithium battery includes a positive electrode including a positive active material, a negative electrode and an electrolyte including a lithium salt, an organic solvent and an additive. The positive active material includes a compound represented by Chemical Formula 1, and the additive includes about 0.5 to about 2 parts by weight of lithium difluorophosphate (LiPOF) and about 0.5 to about 3 parts by weight of vinylene carbonate, based on 100 parts by weight of the organic solvent.LiNiCoMnO  Chemical Formula 1.
