Abstract
A magnetic adjustment mechanismcomprising a chamber, an elementpivotally mounted within the chamberand comprising a magnetic portion, and a magnetic actuatorarranged outside the chamberto allow magnetic coupling with the magnetic portionof the elementsuch that movement of the magnetic actuatorcauses an adjustment of the position of the element. The adjustment mechanismmay be used within a vacuum chamber of a mass spectrometer to control the position of a moveable element from outside the chamber.
