Abstract
An automated teller machine () has at least one receiving compartment (to) for receiving a cash box (). At least one locking element () is provided on a wall () of the receiving compartment (to) and is movable between a locked and an unlocked position. The locking element () is designed and mounted such that, when a cash box () is inserted the locking element (), the locking element () is moved automatically from the unlocked into the locked position by contact with an engagement element () of the cash box ().
