Abstract
The present invention relates to a novel use of magnetic iron oxide red FeOas a catalyst in oxidizing methanthiol to prepare dimethyl disulfide. The magnetic iron oxide red FeOaccording to the present invention has extremely high catalytic selectivity in catalyzing and oxidizing methanthiol to prepare dimethyl disulfide. The magnetic iron oxide red FeOis prepared with a carbonate and a ferrite as raw materials, has advantages of low cost and simple preparation process, and is suitable for industrial production.
