There is provided an image display device used by being mounted to a head or a face of a user, the image display device including a display device configured to display an image, a waveguide configured to guide the image to each of a location seen from a side of the user and a location seen from an outside of the image display device, and a control unit configured to control display of an internal image and an external image, the internal image being seen from the side of the user, the external image being seen from the outside.
