Abstract

A display deviceincludes a display panel, a light source row, a light guide plate, a chassisand a recess portionthat is fitted the chassis. The light guide plateincludes a positioning projection portionthat is fitted to the recess portion. The positioning projection portionprojects outwardly from a side edge surfaceof the light guide plate. The positioning projection portionhas a projection, and among rays of light emitted from an end light sourceX included in the light source rowand entering the light guide plate through a light entrance surface, narrow-angle light Ldirected outward at an angle α (a critical angle θc) with respect to an optical axis Lenters the projection. The positioning projection portionincludes a first edge surfaceand a second edge surface. The first edge surfaceis parallel to a side edge surfaceand the narrow-angle light Lreaches the first edge surface. The second edge surfaceis between the side edge surfaceand the first end surfaceand is inclined such that an external angle β between the first edge surfaceand the second edge surfaceis equal to or smaller than the critical angle θc.
