Abstract

This invention relates to a booster explosive support devicefor use in boreholes. The deviceincludes a securing arrangementwhich is configured to secure an explosive boosterto the device, and a spacing elementwhich protrudes from the securing arrangement. The spacing elementhas a free end which in use abuts against a closed end or bottom of a borehole, thereby supporting the securing arrangementand hence an explosive boosterat a desired spacing from the bottom of the borehole. The spacing elementmay be elongate. The invention also relates to a method of securing an explosive boosterat a pre-determined position in a borehole. The method includes spacing the explosive boosteraway from a closed end of the boreholeby supporting the explosive boosterfrom an operatively lower position thereof.
