Abstract

A method including generating a segment signature for a segment of a media content based on the segment, trusted information contained in a media presentation description (MPD), and a signature signing key, wherein the MPD describes the media content, wherein the segment signature is independent of other segment signatures corresponding to other segments of the media content, and wherein a single copy of the segment signature is configured to be transmitted to a client requesting the segment of the media content thereby permitting the client to determine authenticity of the segment without receiving any additional segment signatures.
