Abstract
In friction engagement device having forward clutchand clutch operation packcontrolling engagement/disengagement operation of the forward clutch, the clutch operation packhas hydraulic piston, engagement pressure piston chamber, snap ring, diaphragm springand ball lock mechanism BL. The diaphragm springprovides biasing engagement force to the forward clutchat a clutch side of the hydraulic piston. The ball lock mechanism BL restrains movement, in a disengagement direction, of the hydraulic pistonat a position where the forward clutchis in an engagement state by the biasing engagement force by exerting ON pressure on the engagement pressure piston chamber, and after restraining the movement of the hydraulic piston, maintains the restraint of the disengagement direction movement of the hydraulic pistoneven when the ON pressure of the engagement pressure piston chamberis drawn.
