Abstract
A system is provided for powering an optical network terminal, including a power adapter connected to the optical network terminal and configured to power the optical network terminal; and a battery tray, connected to the power adapter, configured to supply auxiliary power to the optical network terminal through the power adapter from one or more batteries contained within the battery tray, wherein the battery tray is configured to allow removal and replacement, at the customer premise, of the one or more batteries.
