Abstract

Various methods and devices are provided to address the need for improved carrier aggregation access control. In one method, an network node determines () that a call involving a UE is eligible for carrier aggregation and sends () a request for capability information concerning the UE to an MME. The network node then receives () from the MME capability information concerning the UE in response to the request. When the capability information indicates that the UE is not provisioned for carrier aggregation, the network node denies () carrier aggregation support for the call involving the UE.
