A medical system () including a remote patient monitoring system () and an medical body area network (MBAN) system. The remote patient monitoring system () is configured to generate and/or update a patient-specific configuration () for the MBAN system (). The MBAN system () is controlled by the patient-specific configuration () and includes one or more sensor devices () and a hub device (). The sensor devices () are configured to measure physiological parameters of a patient (). The hub device () is configured to at least one of: report the physiological data from the sensor devices () to the remote patient monitoring system (); and locally monitor the physiological data of the sensor devices () to generate alarms.
