Abstract

A liquid crystal display device includes LEDs, a liquid crystal panel, a chassis, a frame, positioning ribs, and step portions. The liquid crystal panelis configured to display using light from the LEDs. The chassis is arranged on an opposite side of the liquid crystal panelfrom a display surface that is for display. The frameis arranged on the display surface side of the liquid crystal panel. The frameholds at least the liquid crystal paneland the LEDs with the chassis such that the liquid crystal paneland the LEDs are sandwiched between the frameand the chassis. The positioning ribhaving a block-like shape projects from the frametoward the chassis and includes a peripheral surface opposite a peripheral surface of the liquid crystal panelfor positioning the liquid crystal panelrelative to the display surface direction. The step portionprojects from a portion of a distal end surface of the positioning ribtoward the chassis so as to form a step. The step portionincludes a peripheral surface (the inner surface) opposite the peripheral surface of the liquid crystal panel. The peripheral surface of the step portionis on the same plane with the peripheral surface of the positioning rib(the inner surface) which is opposite the peripheral surface of the liquid crystal panel
