Abstract

A high-barrier film is provided that includes a biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate (PET) layer having a first side and a second side opposite the first side, a cross-linked acrylic primer layer, and a metal barrier layer. The cross-linked acrylic primer layer is adjacent to the second side of the PET layer and has a dynamic coefficient of friction (μD) to steel of less than about 0.45, while the metal barrier layer is adjacent to the first side of the PET layer. The film has a total thickness of less than about 10 μm and has a tensile strength of at least about 2500 kg/cm. Processes for producing the high-barrier film are also provided.
