Abstract
A method of making a platform of medical devices from a single tube of a memory metal is described. The single tube, which may be generally cylindrical, is cut to form perforations that function as scoring lines and are located adjacent to the proximal and distal ends. The perforations allow the manufacturer to cleanly tear proximal memory metal strips from each other and to cleanly tear distal memory metal strips from each other so that the freed proximal memory metal strips may be re-attached to each other and the freed distal memory metal strips may be re-attached to each other to form a medical device that may be positioned inside a catheter that has an inner diameter (ID) that is less than the outer diameter of the single tube. The formed medical device may be in the form of an expandable, shape-set basket with x-ray markers that may be used to remove an intracranial blood clot.
