Abstract
A caliper brake () is adapted to act upon a stator () to engage a rotor of a vehicle. A housing () carries both a spring applied hydraulically released piston assembly () and a pressure intensifying piston assembly (). The assemblies () are in fluid communication with each other. The assembly () includes a piston () and a spring assembly () which urges the piston () into a first position engaging the stator (). The piston assembly () includes a pressure intensifying (PI) piston () which is in a first position when the piston () is in the first position. When the PI piston () moves from a first position to a second position, the fluid acts upon the piston () thereby disengaging the piston () from the stator ().
