Abstract

A display device () includes (i) a display panel () including a polarizing plate () on a surface of the display panel () and (ii) a touch panel () including a birefringent base material () on which a Y electrode pattern () and an X electrode pattern () are provided. Polarized light which has exited from the polarizing plate () enters the birefringent base material (). The display device () includes an antireflection layer () which reduces reflection of the polarized light. The antireflection layer () is provided on a first surface of the touch panel () which first surface is opposite to a second surface of the touch panel () which second surface faces the display panel ().
