Abstract

An accelerated vapor recompression apparatusconverts incoming flowto a concentrateby developing a concentration profilewithin a tankholding a liquidcontaining dissolved solids. The resulting curveof saturation temperature of the stratified liquid(such as a brineor other material) moves away from the curvecorresponding to fully mixed conditions. The shiftin saturation temperature results in increased boiling without increased energy from a heateror compressor. A methodof control of the system provides interventionsat different levelsof control, ranging from mass flowsto work of a compressor, heat from a heater, and a predictive processingof feedbackfor controlling commandsalgorithmically.
