Abstract
An exhaust device of an internal combustion engine includes a burner device () including a fuel addition device () for adding fuel to an exhaust passage () of the internal combustion engine (), and igniting the added fuel, and a controller () which detects an abnormal condition of the burner device () on the basis of a temperature change at a temperature detection point in the exhaust passage () downstream of the fuel addition device () after changing the amount of addition of the fuel.
