Abstract

An aqueous coating composition including: a first emulsion polymer including, as copolymerized units, 5% to 50% styrene monomer, by weight based on the weight of the first emulsion polymer, wherein the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the first emulsion polymer is from 55° C. to 110° C.; a certain optional second emulsion polymer; and from 20% to 35%, by weight based on the total weight of the first emulsion polymer and the optional second emulsion polymer, coalescent selected from the group consisting of hexaoxatricosane, Calkyl glutarates, Calkyl succinates, Calkyl adipates, and mixtures thereof is provided. A method for providing a coating using the aqueous coating composition, particularly a coating for cementious substrates, the coating desirably providing superior hot tire pickup resistance is also provided.
