Abstract

A twist beam () for a suspension assembly () comprises a base portion () and side walls () presenting an open U-shaped cross-section and a bulged middle section (). The twist beam () includes end sections (), the middle section (), and transition sections () each extending from one of the end sections () to the middle section (). The width (w) and the height (h) of the twist beam () increase along the transition sections () to the middle section (). The width (w) and the height (h) of the middle section () are greater than the width (w) and the height (h) of the end sections (). The cross-sectional area of the bulged middle section () is typically 10% to 30% greater than the cross-sectional area of the end sections ().
