Abstract

A method is carried out by a receiving and playing device (), for receiving and playing a media stream. The method includes a first playing procedure (s), a playing mode switching procedure (s), and a second playing procedure (s). The first playing procedure (s) includes receiving a media stream through a communication medium or network () and playing the received media stream. The playing mode switching procedure (s) includes determining (s) whether a media content about to be received or being received is locally stored and, if so, switching to the second playing procedure (s). The second playing procedure (s) includes playing the media content based on at least the locally stored media content. The invention also relates to methods carried out by a transmitting device (), to receiving and playing devices (), to transmitting devices (), and to computer programs.
