Abstract

A method, device and system for accessing a core network by means of non-3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) access are disclosed, so as to acquire capability information of a User Equipment (UE) and/or capability information of a non-3GPP access system, and decide, according to the acquired capability information, whether the UE transfers information required for establishing an Evolved Packet Core (EPC) session. The disclosure can enhance the capability of the UE to support establishment of an extra Packet Data Network (PDN) connection and service continuity during switching between access systems. Meanwhile, the capability of a peer can be acquired through the UE and a network, so that the network may support normal access by an existing UE and an enhanced UE simultaneously.
