Abstract
In a magnetic recording scalefixed to an outer periphery of a rotary tubewhich rotates around an optic axis depending on the movement of a zoom lens, a plurality of recording sectionand recording sectionpairs are provided in the rotational direction. A recording sectionhas a width less than a width of a recording section. The recording sectionis recorded with code information indicating a position in the magnetic recording scale, and the recording sectionis recorded with a magnetic signal for detecting the recording sectionadjacent thereto. A lens position detecting unitdetects a position of the zoom lens based on the code information and then detects a position of the zoom lens based on the detected code information.
