Abstract

An improved spinous process fixation implant assemblyincludes a spinous process fixation implantand an interspinous spacer implant. The spinous process fixation implantincludes elongated first and second components, that are arranged opposite and parallel to each other. First and second spinous processesof first and second adjacent vertebraeare clamped between the first and second components, respectively, and are separated by the interspinous spacer implant. The interspinous spacer implantmay be inserted between the spinous processes of adjacent vertebrae from two different directions.
