Abstract
The otoscope includes a mounting device () in which an ear speculum () is releasably attached, the ear speculum () including a conically tapering cone portion (). The ear speculum () includes a substantially cylindrical base portion () being coaxial to the cone portion () and having a diameter which is larger than the largest diameter of the cone portion () and being connected through an intermediate wall portion () to the cone portion (). At least one cutout () extending to the free edge of the base portion () is formed in the base portion () of the ear speculum (). A resilient snap hook () is arranged in the cutout (), the resilient snap hook () comprising a connecting leg (), one end of which is connected to the base portion () in the proximity of the free edge and which substantially extends in circumferential direction of the base portion (), and a holding leg () extending from the other end of the connecting leg () in the direction of the intermediate wall portion (), wherein the inner side of the snap hook () protrudes into the cylinder space of the base portion ().
