Abstract
A flow machine () has an outer housing () with an inner housing (), particularly a guide blade carrier, arranged therein and a rotor shaft () which is situated in the latter, a cover () which is fastened to the outer housing () and separates an inlet pressure (p) in the interior of the outer housing () from an ambient pressure (pu) outside the outer housing, and a compensating piston seal () for sealing an outlet pressure (p) in a work space, particularly compression space (), defined between the rotor shaft () and the inner housing () against the inlet pressure (p) in a noncontacting manner. The compensating piston seal () is fastened to the cover ().
