Abstract

A system for supporting, lifting, moving, mobilizing, ambulating, and physically rehabilitating a user such as patients in hospitals comprises a chair, a frame, and a lifting garment. The chairhas a seathaving a front portionand a rear portionand is so constructed that as the seatmoves towards a standing position, the rear portionof the seatremains substantially horizontally so a user does not slide out of the seat. The frameis constructed so that the user can enter the framefrom either the front sideor the rear side. The lifting garmentis made of a fabric that contracts normal to a direction in which it is pulled for ease in raising a patient in or out of a bed, a chair, or a toilet, to or from a standing position.
