Abstract

An exhaust gas turbocharger () with a compressor () which has a compressor wheel () arranged in a compressor housing (); with a turbine () which has a turbine wheel () arranged in a turbine housing (); and with a bearing housing () which is arranged between the compressor housing () and turbine housing (); and which has a bearing () for a rotor shaft () which bears the turbine wheel () and the compressor wheel (), wherein the bearing () has at least one ceramic insert () which is on the bearing housing side and is under compressive prestress, and at least one ceramic insert () which is on the motor shaft side and is under tensile prestress.
