Abstract

A method for is disclosed for improving diesel engine wear by lubricating the engine with a composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and based upon the total composition of the lubricating oil composition from about 0.1 to about 2.0 weight % actives of a reaction product of an ethylene-alpha olefin copolymer acylated with maleic anhydride having a number average molecular weight from 5,000 to 120,000 and a hydrocarbyl-substituted poly(oxyalkylene) monoamine represented by the formula: R—(OCHCH)—(OCHCHR)—NHRwherein Ra hydrocarbyl group having from about 1 to about 35 carbon atoms; Ris independently hydrogen or methyl for each repeat unit g; Ris hydrogen or alkyl from 1 to 10 carbon atoms; and f and g are integers such that f+g is from 2 to 45 and wherein Ris selected to have a plurality of ethylene oxide in the polyoxyalkylene moiety.
