Abstract

To provide a thermal head in which separation of a protective layer is unlikely to occur. A thermal head Xincludes a substrate, a heat-generating portiondisposed on the substrate, electrodesanddisposed on the substrateand electrically connected to the heat-generating portion, and a protective layerwhich covers the heat-generating portionand part of the electrodesand. The electrodesandeach includes a first region Rwhich lies below a depth of 150 nm from the surfaceorlocated on the protective layerside, and the first region Rcontains oxygen. It is possible to suppress separation of each of the electrodesandfrom the protective layer
