Abstract

There are provided an SPR sensor cell and an SPR sensor having a very excellent detection sensitivity. The SPR sensor cell of the present invention includes: an under-cladding layer; a core layer formed so that at least a part of the core layer is adjacent to the under-cladding layer and having a light entrance and a light exit; and a metal layer covering a part of the core layer. A sectional area (S1) of the core layer at the light entrance and a sectional area (S2) of the core layer at the part covered by the metal layer satisfy a relationship of S1>S2.
