Abstract

A reactor and a reaction method are provided with which temperature changes due to a large amount of reaction heat generated immediately after confluence of raw material fluids can be suppressed. A reactor () includes reaction passages () and temperature control passages (). Each reaction passage () includes first and second supply passage parts (), a confluence part (), and a reaction passage part () connected in this order from upstream to downstream. Each temperature control passage () includes: first temperature control passage parts () extending at least along a particular range of the corresponding reaction passage part (); and a second temperature control passage part () connected thereto, which is fewer in number than the first temperature control passage parts (). Each second temperature control passage part () has a cross section area larger than that of each first temperature control passage part ().
